Abstract

A new kind of very high burning rate (VHBR) solid propellant is prepared. It is of porous structure. Its burning rate is in the level of 1000 mm/s under the pressure larger than 10 MPa. The burning rate of VHBR propellant grain of uniform density is strongly dependent on the combustion pressure. A kind of VHBR propellant grain of density gradient is designed. The result shows that the apparent exponent for the dependence of burning rate on pressure for VHBR propellant can be reduced to about 0.5 based on a design for the density gradient of a grain.
