Abstract

A fast and intelligent electronic image stabilization method for moving camera devices acquiring stabilized video was presented to solve well the problems of camera jitter automatic detection and image compensation. The global motion vectors between successive frames were calculated by an improved image-interpolation algorithm and thresholds were set to detect if unwanted vibrations existed. An image compensation algorithm, consisted of camera jitter compensation and local motion compensation, was used to translate and rotate the shaky image to the right place so as to achieve a stabilized video. The feasibility of the method was verified by the image stabilization results of the real video sequences. The experimental and analyzed results show that the method improves the intelligence of the electronic stabilization system.
