Abstract

For co-aperture infrared/millimeter wave (IR/MMW) compound guidance applications, this paper presents a new data fusion method based on auto-regressive spectrum estimation and extended Kalman filter. Then the multiprocessor SoC system is built up to implement the guided signal processing. The architecture of SoC is master-slave pipeline approach. The communication and synchronization among processors are solved, and the IR/MMW compound guidance signal processing system is accomplished in real time. The proposed method and architecture have been implemented on one FPGA chip. Numerical examples show that the predicted target track is well coincident with the real one. The error is less than 10 -2. The fusing accuracy of heading angle is much higher than that of millimeter-wave radar or infrared radar. At 100 MHz clock, the sum of all signal processing time for infrared/millimeter wave compound guidance does not exceed 2 ms that meets the requirement in real-time.
