Abstract

In this paper, the relationship between the voltage gain, ZVS turn-on region, component stress and control variables (phase-shift angle, frequency ratio and quality factor) is analyzed comprehensively. On the basis, a modulation map with the optimal operation region was proposed for a family of resonant switched- capacitor converters with phase-shift modulation. By selecting the appropriate control variables, all switches achieve ZVS turn-on, reducing the switching loss significantly. In addition, the voltage gain and component stress can be easily determined, which provides a guideline to operate and design such converters. A 30W prototype with high-voltage side 48V and low-voltage side 21.6- 26.4 V was designed and tested to verify the feasibility of the proposed modulation map.
