Abstract

An embedded low temperature co-fired ceramic (LTCC) bandpass filter (BPF) for Ku-band Receiver module is presented in this paper. The measurements of initial fabricated filter exhibit an insertion loss of 2.6 dB and a 2.9 GHz passband with the centre frequency at 16.45 GHz, including the GCPW to stripline transition and RF coaxial connector. Electromagnetic (EM) simulation is employed to optimize the filter response and a GCPW to stripline transition. A quasi coaxial configuration is applied to reducing the influence caused by the transition structure. Improved BPF integrated with the transition shows an insertion loss less than 1.5 dB, a return loss below -17.2 dB in the pass-band and less spurious response in the stop-band by EM simulation.
