A fast defuzzification method for general type-2 fuzzy sets

Abstract

In this study, a fast and steady defuzzification method (the limited embedded sets algorithm) for general type-2 fuzzy sets is introduced. Depending on the generalized centroid of general type-2 fuzzy sets and the reduction of the encountered embedded fuzzy sets, this algorithm develops fast (save more than 60% time than the geometric method) and steadily (the deviation is 0 with several runs). To show the performance, experimental studies are reported based on two kinds of general type-2 fuzzy sets-the triangular primary and triangular secondary fuzzy set (symmetric) and the parabolic primary and triangular secondary fuzzy set (asymmetric).
