Abstract

A developed method to measure blood pressure (BP) based on oscillometric theory is presented in this paper. Estimating mean pressure (MP) during inflation is applied to set a suitable occluded pressure of cuff. In order to simplify the hardware, moving window median filter (MWMF) is used to extract oscillation pulses from cuff signal. Then, Gaussian-Fitting Method (GFM) is introduced to fit the curve of oscillation pulse envelope. Finally, systolic pressure (SP) and diastolic pressure (DP) is calculated in two different ways according to the quality of signal, which is decided by a proposed mechanism of signal quality decision using correlation coefficient. Experiments have proved the algorithm with high precision and accuracy BP results.
