Abstract
A convenient and general approach was presented for analysing nonradiative dielctric (NRD)- guide leaky wave antennas using the finite-element method (FEM) and perfectly matched layers (PMLs). A typical NRD-guide leaky-wave antenna was calculated to confirm the validity of the proposed approach. This approach was extended to anlyze other leaky-wave antennas in a straightforward manner. Asymmetry in the cross section of this guide caused strong leakage of the field, and form NRD-guide leaky-wave antennas. The key to characterizing this leaky-wave antenna was to determine its complex propagation constants.
