Abstract

We introduce a novel class of unitary signal constellations for differential space-time modulation with two transmit antennas, called parametric codes, generated from the parametric form of 2 × 2 unitary matrices. Parametric codes lead to a signal constellation of size five with the best possible diversity product of √5/8 and another one of size sixteen which has the best known diversity product of 4√2/2 among the existing unitary space-time codes and is a subset of a unitary group of order thirty two.
