Abstract

In this paper, a 3-branch metasurface is proposed, acting as a linear polarization converter, which can efficiently convert linearly polarized electromagnetic waves to cross polarized waves within a wide frequency band. Based on the electric and magnetic resonant features of the unit cell, composed by 3-branch structure, three resonances are generated and lead to the bandwidth expansion of cross-polarization reflections. An average polarization conversion ratio of more than 90% from 11 GHz to 35GHz can be achieved. Furthermore, the designed metasurface exhibits its potential applications in monostatic and bistatic RCS reduction.
