Abstract

Three-dimensional cold flow and hot gas simulation for internal flow field of gas valve was performed by using finite volume technique and the result was verified by cold flow experiment. The characteristics for the flow field of gas valve were explained. Linear relationship between inlet pressure and force on the spool was obtained. The inlet pressure and the valve mass flux among three elastic components with different elastic coefficients were compared, and conic relationship between the inlet pressure and the valve mass flux was obtained. Low elastic coefficients and gas temperature can enhance regulating ability of pressure regulating valve. Finally hot gas simulation results were analyzed and compared with cold flow simulation results. Some advises on thermal protection for spool and bonnet were proposed.
