Abstract

We report on the improved power budget of 28-Gbps optical access network based on 1.55-μm 10G-dass VCSEL. We achieve a power budget larger than 14 dB by utilizing the OOK modulation format (rather than PAM-4), 10G-dass avalanche photo-detector, and electrical equalization at the receiver.
