Abstract

In order to investigate the influence of environmental properties and fuel properties on the evaporation characteristics of mono-component droplet, a high temperature and high pressure droplet evaporation system was built. After that, the evaporation processes of n-heptane, n-dodecane and n-hexadecane droplets under high temperature and high pressure were analyzed with the established system. The results show that, when the ambient temperature exceeds the critical temperature of the fuel and the ambient pressure is close to the critical pressure of the fuel, high-density vapor appears around the droplet, and the density of the high-density vapor increases under higher pressure. In addition, as the ambient temperature increases, the increase of environmental pressure first decelerates and then accelerates the droplet evaporation rate, which is consistent for different fuel droplets. At a certain temperature closing to the critical temperature of the fuel, the change of environmental pressure has little influence on the evaporation rate of fuel droplets.Further, the evaporation rate of different fuel droplets all increases at higher ambient temperature under all pressure cases.Higher environmental pressure also leads to the larger increase of evaporation rate under higher ambient temperature.
