Abstract
Based on CFD method, the flow around two side-by-side arranged cylinders with different space ratios (1.25≤T*≤5) are investigated. The preliminary results show that the wake is unstable at 1.25<T*≤2.2, and the wake is alternately dominated the two cylinders. At T* >2.2, the wake becomes stable and synchronization of the shedding vortices of the two cylinders is induced. T*≈2.2 is the critical value of the wake whether remains stable. Further study shows that the wakes of the two cylinders are in-phase at 2.2<T*≤3.3, and anti-phase at T* >3.3. The critical value of in-phase and anti-phase wake vortices is at T*≈3.3. At T* >4, the interaction between two cylinders dramatically weakens, and the wakes of the two cylinders are similar to that of single cylinder.
