Abstract

Indoor wireless network spatial localization algorithms, such as centroid localization algorithm, require signal strength ranging, but due to the complexity of the indoor spatial environment, the accuracy of the ranging model based on signal strength has a significant impact on the positioning accuracy of indoor network. The main factors that affect the strength of the received signal in indoor wireless network are analyzed. The influences of four factors, including the height of the transceiver terminal from the ground, the antenna orientation of the terminal, the moving direction of receiving terminal, and the human body shielding, on the transmitted signal strength are experimentally studied. Based on the measured data, a model for the attenuation of received signal strength with transmission distance in a typical indoor environment without other obstacles is established. The signal strength can be accurately measured by analyzing the influences of different environmental factors. The signal strength attenuation model of indoor environment without other obstacles established in the paper provides more accurate relationship between signal strength and transmission distance.
