Abstract

At the initial stage of cast steel convex ring′s development, according to its structural characteristics, the lost foam casting process analysis was carried out, and two process schemes were designed. InteCAST software was applied to simulate filling and solidification processes of two projects, respectively. The better design project was selected out. The results showed that for the process scheme of convex ring with large section upward, the filling process was smooth, the feeding effect was better, and there were no obvious shrinkage defects on the important surface. Moreover, the foam pattern was easy to be bonded and assembled. Through the actual production verification, the casting quality met the user's requirements.
