Abstract
Environmental improvements and the rapid development of aviation have led to increased conflicts between wildlife and aircraft, with bird strikes accounting for more than 90% of wildlife attacks. According to statistics, bird strikes have cost the world’s aviation industry more than $2 billion a year. Bird strikes have been a problem of great harm to aircraft, and bird conditions must be continuously and comprehensively observed. The purpose of the above problems was,on the one hand, when a large number of birds have been observed,it can guide the pilot to avoid and drive away the birds in time;on the other hand, through long-term data accumulation, the biological and kinematic characteristics of birds can be studied, and then targeted control measures can be implemented. According to the demand, radar technology can observe the bird situation all day,all weather, large range, long distance and high precision, and has been rapidly developed and applied in the control of bird situation in the airport, and has played an important role. In this paper, the overall situation of bird strike accidents at home and abroad, the traditional means of bird situation detection and the advantages of radar technology in the application of bird strike prevention at airports were briefly introduced. Secondly, the paper introduced the development process of the bird detection radar system, the system, working mode and detection performance of the bird situation detection system. Thirdly, the paper analyzed the application difficulties of radar in bird situation detection, and explained the research progress of the key technologies from the perspectives of system, target detection and target recognition. Fourthly, the technical status and application of typical bird detection radar systems at home and abroad were compared, and the research progress of the cylindrical two-dimensional phased array bird detection radar system of Beijing Racobit Electronic Information Technology Co.,Ltd. was introduced. Finally, this paper summarized and looks forward to the development of bird detection radar technology.
