Abstract
Skew is an important parameter in the hydraulic design of propellers and has a significant impact on the performance of water jet propulsion pumps similar to propellers. On the basis of the original hydraulic model of the water jet propulsion pump, this article obtained three different hydraulic models of the water jet propulsion pump with different types of skew by changing the distribution of skew. The external characteristics, internal flow field, and cavitation characteristics of the water jet propulsion pump were obtained by using numerical simulation methods. The research results indicate that the prototype pump performs better in the saddle area and small flow area, while the C-type pump with increased skew performs better in the large flow area. By changing the skew, the location and area of cavitation can be changed, thereby improving cavitation performance.
