Abstract
To solve the problem that the pattern synthesis method based on the adaptive beam forming with variable reference voltage cannot simultaneously control the nulls and gaps of the pattern, a pattern synthesis method based on the maximum signal-to-noise ratio (MSNR) for arbitrary arrays was proposed in this paper, focusing on the theoretical analysis of pattern synthesis methods to achieve the lowest side lobe level under a fixed main lobe width. Redefining the variable reference voltage parameters proposed by previous studies, the new variable reference voltage was designed to generate an anti-interference beam with controllable gaps and nulls, as well as equal side lobe levels under the condition of a fixed beam main lobe width. The effectiveness of the algorithm was verified by computer simulations. This method has provided with a significant practical value to improve the performance of phased array radar in resistance of clutters and interferences.
