Abstract

Monitoring the living environment of fish accurately and quickly plays a critical role in the aquaculture industry. The aquaculture monitoring environment has the characteristics of multi-measuring points, long measuring time, and high complexity measuring conditions. In order to solve the problems of the high cost and wiring difficulty during monitoring, a new type of wireless sensor network system for aquaculture based on ZigBee is designed. This system achieved the goals of collect, transmit and display multi-parameters, such as dissolved oxygen (DO) and temperature. By using wireless sensor network, transmissions of the data between sensor detecting nodes and coordinate nodes are fast and accurate. The system also enforces real-time remote monitoring. Because of its simple structure, fast data transmission, easy functional extension, high self-organization and self-recovery ability, the system is suitable for industrialized aquaculture.
