Abstract

Velocity attenuation of fragments with various initial velocity and length-diameter ratio were discussed. The conclusions are: (1) velocity attenuation coefficients and drag coefficients of fragments will be changed with the initial velocity of fragments; (2) at transonic and supersonic flight, the velocity attenuation coefficients will increase but the drag coefficients will decrease with the increase of length-diameter ratio; (3) cross section and head form of the fragment are main factors affecting velocity attenuation.
