Abstract
The discharge characteristics of a new type AC PDP (alternating current plasma display panel) with five-electrode structure are investigated by 2D fluid model. The transient discharges during address, trigger and sustain phases are simulated, and the evolution of wall charges is described. It is shown that a trigger discharge can be used to lower the sustain voltage,.
