Abstract

Small and Medium Enterprises play a major role in China's economy. A Collaborative Application Service Provider (CASP) is proposed to improve the situation of SMEs. The open, dynamic, reconfigurable, scalable and robust architecture of CASP is introduced, enabling SMEs to get high quality and low cost software-lease-online service and supporting allied members to compete for market collaboratively. The services provided by CASP are discussed briefly. The key technologies used to develop CASP are analyzed in detail. The practice of CASP in High Technology Industry Region of Shannxi Province (HTIRSP) which was developed with the architecture and technologies discussed in the paper greatly promotes the core competence of SMEs as well as the economy of the region.
