Abstract

This article lists three SAR imaging algorithms and selects one of these as an evaluation algorithm which is used to run on a PowerPC platform and a DSP platform separately. This paper will give detailed evaluation data to show the difference of performance between the two platforms in several aspects, such as the efficiency of FFT operation, the bandwidth of memory accessing and the implement of SAR imaging algorithm (FIR-RD algorithm). Finally, a conclusion is stated that for current SAR imaging algorithm DSP is more applicable than PowerPC because of its special hardware architecture.
