Abstract

Supported nano-size nickel catalyst is prepared by the ion-exchange reduction, and used to catalyze reduction of p-nitrotoluene. The catalyst is in cubic particle with particle size between 40 nm and 50 nm. In the reduction the conversion rate can be about 100% with a p-toluidine yield of 97.7%. The catalyst can be easily separated and be reused at least for 3 times.
