Abstract

Cellulose triacetate for liquid crystal display was prepared by acetylation at high temperature and hydrolyzation at low temperature. The structure and properties of CTA and its film were analyzed by IR, UV, mechanical property tester and chemical analysis. The spectrum of IR show that the acetyl groups grafts to cellulose skeleton to form cellulose triacetate. It is found that acetyl content of CTA is up to 60% or more, CTA film shows high transparency, low birefringence and sufficient mechanical properties, these properties adapt to the use as protective film for polarizing plate of liquid crystal display.
