Abstract

In this paper, a new solar desalination device with fresh water cooling dehumidifier on the basis of humidification and dehumidification (HDH)was designed. Firstly, the structure and working principle of the solar desalination system was introduced. Then, based on the conservation of mass and energy, the heat and mass transfer process of the system is analyzed. According to the experiment, the transient performance of the system was studied, and the relationships between the fresh water yield and the seawater spray temperature and the air flow rate were given. Finally, the effects of two different fillers on the water yield of the system were studied. The results show that it takes 21 minutes for the solar desalination system to reach the stable working state. The results also show that when Ts1=83℃, ms1=1.1 t/h and mc=0.94 t/h, the water yield of the system is 63 kg/h underVa=300 m3/h.
