Still-image real-time coding-compression processing system by using CL550 processor

Abstract

IN order to decrease the transmission time and storage space in transmitting and storing the information of digital image, the image compression procedure must be done, which is also a key section in the multimedia field. Therefore, a kind of real-time coding-compression processing system for the still image was introduced, which uses a special image compression processor-CL550 in accord with the JPEG standard to perform the real-time coding compression of still image and has the advantages of low cost, good functions, wide applications, and less demands on the peripheral elements or devices. Besides, a description on the features and functions of CL550 processor and the system was also made.
