Small target detection algorithm based on wavelet analysis

Abstract

Infrared small target detection is a research hot point for its military significance. According to their different characteristics of the targets, noises and background edges in wavelet domain, a small target detection algorithm based on wavelet analysis is proposed. It can differ the above three singular signals by the excellent analytical ability of the wavelet on singularity. The algorithm implemented on PC for simulation and the experimental results show that the method can detect small targets in infrared image effectively.
