Review of flame retardant waterborne polyurethane

Flame retardant waterborne polyurethane is one of the most important functional waterborne polyurethane, and has good application. There are two types of flame retardant waterborne polyurethane: the additive and the reactive-type. Additive-type fame retardants are incorporated into the waterborne polyurethane by physical means, as a consequence, poor compatibility. Much attention was drawn by reactive type flame retardant waterborne polyurethane due to the more effective to improve flame retardance and avoid flame retardant migrate toward the surface of the film after application. A review of the study on the two methods was given and expecting the development direction of flame retardant waterborne polyurethane.
