Abstract

Information heterogeneity is one of the main challenges faced by digital libraries. An interoperable mediation for digital library (IMDL) is introduced. IMDL is based on component architecture and integrates heterogeneous information services, which is dynamic and extensible. IMDL uses RDF as information exchange format, and implements protocol translation, query translation and result integration. The paper also describes the implementation and evaluation of IMDL based on heterogeneous data source of China Digital Library Corporation.
