Abstract

Radar equation is a fundamental tool to analyze the detection range of radar. An analogous equation is derived for collaborative radar network as a whole in this paper. With this equation, the impact of power allocation on the detection range of the radar network is analyzed. In conventional radar, the power is distributed uniformly and the radar covers an area with a circle shape and the radar power is inversely proportional to the quadratic of range. On the contrast, with carefully designed power allocation strategy, the radar covers an area with a rectangle shape and the power is inversely proportional to the cubic of range. It is demonstrated that with proper power allocation the detection range of the collaborative radar network could be significantly improved.
