Abstract

A new energetic gelator carboxymethyl cellulose nitrate (CMCN) was synthesized and its gel was prepared. The structure, nitrogen content and thermal properties of CMCN were analyzed by FTIR, TG and XRD, and rheology of CMCN gels was studied. The results show that the nitrogen content of CMCN is lower than normal NC and initial decomposition temperature of CMCNs is about 192°C. As the content of carboxymethyl increases, initial decomposition temperature of CMCNs has little change, but the fastest decomposition temperature increases and peak width broadenes. CMCN gel have good thixotropy. With increasing the content of hydrophilic carboxylic group, the strength and stability of gels increase, while the stimuli-responsive capability of gels decreases.
