Abstract
The stable water-based magnetic fluid was prepared by surface modification of Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles with sodium tripolyphosphate (STPP). The magnetic fluid was characterized by FTIR, TG, TEM, XRD, XPS, VSM and zeta potential. The results show that Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles are coated by STPP in surface. Particle surface acquires a negative charge at pH value above 3. It is found that STPP/Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles are superparamagnetic with a specific saturation magnetization of 62.3 A·m2·kg-1.
