Abstract

In order to kill different types of airborne targets, gimbaled warhead was designed to fire the fragments in the target direction and the missile coordinate system was established. Based on guidance integrated fusing and the two encounter concepts of side-attack target and forward-intercept target at endgame, the formulas of kill probability of one-missile to one-target were developed, and the warhead basic parameters such as fragment spray angle, fragment ejection velocity and fragment number were designed depending on configuration features of the warhead space layout in missile skin. Then, by selecting the different typical target, the effects of the design parameters on the kill probability were studied by using Monte-Carlo method, and the optimizations of the design parameters of the warhead were obtained based on these studies. The optimization process will be of a certain reference value in engineering design of gimbaled warhead.
