Abstract

The problem of mutual coupling self-calibration for parameter (direction-of-arrival, polarization) estimation using vector antennas (VAs) is studied in this paper. The signal model of an VA array in the presence of intra-VA mutual coupling is established. Unlike the active mutual coupling calibration scheme, the unknown mutual coupling coefficients involved in the model, together with the direction-of-arrival and polarization parameters of signals are then estimated by using a rank deficiency based scheme. The Cramér-Rao bound for joint estimation of the mutual coupling coefficients and signal parameters is also derived. Simulation results are included to illustrate the performance of the proposed method.
