Abstract

Knocking control is very important for a spark ignition (SI) engine. To design a knocking control system, it's necessary to understand the knocking characteristics of the engine. In this work, the knocking combustion signal for a SI engine was measured and processed both in the time and the frequency domains. The knocking combustion characteristics of the tested engine were obtained and the test results could be used in the design of a knock control system. The test system, measurement method, test results, data processing method and conclusion are presented in this paper.
