Because there is a discrepancy between the physical and perceived distance, it is difficult for us to use the remote control robots. In order to solve this problem, we investigated the psychophysical characteristics of human distance perception. In this study, young and elder subjects estimate the actively and passively presented distance using upper arm. The experimental results offer the useful knowledge about improvements in the operation of remote control robots.",
