Abstract

In order to reveal the influence of stress state on the adiabatic shear sensitivity, Ti-6Al-4V is heated to get bimodal and lamellar microstructures. The split Hopkinson press bar (SHPB) is used to impact cylinder and hat-shaped specimen, and the difference of the adiabatic shear sensitivity in two kinds of structure under the stress state of single-axis compress and press-shear was compared. The results show that in the case of single-axils compress state, the adiabatic shear sensitivity of the lamellar structure is higher than that of the bimodal, in the case of press-shear state, it is quite the reverse. It reveals the stress state has great influence on the adiabatic shear sensitivity.
