Abstract

Ni-coated Mn composite powders were prepared by carbonylation technology to prevent the oxidation of Mn powders. The Ni-Mn alloy were prepared by liquid phase sintering and the dynamic compressive property of the Ni-Mn alloy with different composition under different heat treatments were studied. The results show that the dynamic compressive strength of the quenched alloy is higher than that of the annealed alloy with pearlite-like structure. The effect of composition of the alloy on the dynamic compressive strength is discussed based on the empirical electron of solid and molecules theory (EET), and the result indicates that higher compressive strength can be expected for the alloy with increasing Ni content.
