Implementation of digital shaping filters with field programmable gate arrays

Abstract

The implementation of digital baseband shaping filters is studied and methods commonly used in shaping filter design is analysed, listing their disadvantages and advantages. From this analysis the table look-up process in realizing the shaping filter with field programmable gate arrays is adopted and HDL (hardware description language) is used. This kind of shaping filter with FPGA enjoys high performance and great flexibility. As HDL is used in FPGA development, the parameters can readily be modified in the shaping filter by modifying the HDL soft code, so it can be used widely in software-radios in the future.
