Abstract

Under different strain rates (0.000 33~2 760 s - 1), the σ-ε relation of ship-build steel 945 has been studied with the MTS (materials test system) and the split Hopkinson press bar (SHPB), while JC model is compared with CS model. Two improved Cowper-Symonds models and corresponding parameters are obtained, and the applicability of these models is investigated. The experimental results show that the ship-build steel has a remarkable strain rate effect and a nonlinear strain hardening effect. Dynamic constitutive CS model of ship-build steel 945 can describe dynamic mechanical behaviors more exactly than JC model under high strain rate. The two improved CS models have different application field.
