Abstract

The electro-optic effect of electro-optic crystal, can be used to get a dual-frequency laser output whose frequency difference can be tuned. If it is applied to the laser radar system, we will get a new system of dual-frequency laser radar and it has a strong ability to resist atmospheric disturbances. By modulating the frequency offset of the dual-frequency laser linearly and detecting distance of target, we can obtain high range resolution. However, because of the nonlinearity of the frequency offset, a frequency deviation function E(t) will be introduced and it will lead to the range resolution's variation. The results of theoretical derivation and simulation show that the amplitude and period of frequency deviation function have a great influence on the range resolution is larger. Meanwhile, the range resolution becomes worse with the increase of target distance.
