Abstract

The hydrodynamic analysis on the process of the hydrostatic extrusion for tungsten alloy is carried out by use of the hydrodynamic lubrication theory and Reynolds equation. The critical velocity equation is obtained when the hydrodynamic lubrication conditions appear between the surfaces of the work-piece and the die, and the relationships between the critical velocity and the extrusion parameters such as extrusion pressure, die angle, viscosity of extrusion medium, yield stress of the tungsten alloy, the sizes of the work-piece and the die are discussed, which become the theoretical base to the application of the hydrostatic extrusion for tungsten alloy.
