Abstract

A method of generating 5-sided blending surface among wing, fuselage and long fringe based on energy minimization is presented. When generating the 5-sided blending surface, contact curves, boundary curves and inner curves are firstly determined. Then the five 4-sided surfaces are generated based on energy minimization using the contact curves, the boundary curves and the inner curves as position constraints and using the normal vectors of the base surfaces at the contact curves and the normal vectors at the inner curves as normal vector constraints. Thus the five 4-sided surfaces are G1 continuous with each other and are in G1 continuous contact with the base surfaces. Therefore, the 5-sided blending surface consisting of the five 4-sided surfaces is generated.
