Formation of mixed configuration cell based on product demand prediction

Abstract

Product demand is a main factor influencing formation and reconfiguration of manufacturing cell (MC) especially when lifespan of the formed MCs is considered. It is also the most important factor for formation of mixed style of manufacturing cell (MSMC) in mixed style of production line (MPL) where developing and developed products coexist. Against the problem of MPL formation and its adjustment, the concept of MSMC is advanced. Then, a uniform formation frame covering rules, constraints, and objectives of different styles of MC is constructed and a heuristic algorithm for resource capacity allocation is used for solution. Next, an inheritable reconfiguration method of MC is analyzed for actual application of periodic task adjustment. At last, above formation and reconfiguration algorithm of MSMC under product prediction is validated by computational study.
