Abstract

A new experimental method was developed to measure the dynamic tensile strength of fragile tungsten alloys. This method is based on the one-dimensional stress wave theory and the fact that these alloys possess high dynamic compressive strength and very low dynamic tensile strength. Compared with the traditional SHTB method, the new approach is simple and accurate. It can meet the engineering demands.
