Abstract

Analyzed systematically measurement and calculation methods of unsteady characteristics for vehicular turbocharger turbine, the unsteady test rig was developed based on these methods, thus providing a experimental means for research of them. On this test rig, the unsteady characteristics of a turbine matched to engine under representative conditions were investigated. It is found that the unsteady characteristics form a loop around the steady characteristics appearing the known "close loop characteristics" phenomenon. Lastly, the unsteady characteristics obtained were discussed.
