Abstract

In order to study the effect of hyperbranced polyisocyanate (HPI) curing agent on properties of HTPB polyurethanes, FTIR, viscosity and tensile tests were applied to track the curing process and mechanical properties of HPI-HTPB and TDI-HTPB. The results indicate that both reaction activation energy and viscosity are lower than those of TDI-HTPB, but curing reaction rate and conversion ratio of HPI-HTPB are higher. Mechanical properties of HPI-HTPB are improved, and its strength and elongation at R=0.9 are 2.33 and 3.50 times that of TDI-HTPB, respectively.
