Abstract
This paper studies the damage of structural components (solid structures and electronics) under severe shock environment introduced by intensive impulsive loads. Two types of critical states of shock response spectrum (SRS) are identified, i.e. the critical SRS state governed by the maximum relative displacement and absolute acceleration, and the critical SRS state governed by the maximum pseudo velocity. The damage boundary of a given component under shock environment is determined analytically in a wide range of frequency domain, which shows good agreement with experimental and numerical results. The proposed method can be used to guide the shock environment adaptability design of aerospace and other structural components.
